Programs

The Vincennes University (V.U.) Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program is designed to provide a FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) or an Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree can be added to the Airframe and Powerplant certification.

AMT Program

The AMT program consists of four semesters of intensive aircraft maintenance training in 44 subject areas. Technical courses are based on 60% laboratory and 40% lecture instruction. The certification process starts at the end of the fourth semester and is divided into three parts: An FAA computerized exam, an oral exam, and a practical (skills) exam.

Computerized testing is accomplished through the Vincennes University's FAA certified computer test center. Oral and Practical exams will be conducted on-site by faculty members who are also FAA Designated Mechanic Examiners. Oral and practical exams are provided at no additional cost. When all exams are successfully completed, an FAA Mechanic certificate will be issued. Once certified an A&P technician is allowed to perform inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls to aircraft and their related systems.
